The Non-Governmental Organisation, Centre for Promotion of Education (Qendra për Përparimin e Edukimit dhe Arsimit), QPEA, based in Ferizaj, Kosovo was founded in April 2000 and is registered under UNMIK (United Nations Mission in Kosovo) and the Ministry of Public Affairs of Kosovo. The Centre for Promotion of Education also has a public benefit status. QPEA operates in the whole territory of Kosovo and is also engaged in many activities abroad as a co-partner of different regional organisations.

The main objectives of QPEA are:
•    To protect the psychosocial well-being and promote the education of children;
•    To contribute to the psychosocial and psycho-pedagogic quality of the educational system of Kosovo;
•    To mobilise human resources for the psychosocial protection and well-being of children;

These objectives are achieved through the following main activities:
•    Psychosocial seminars for teachers, parents and volunteers;
•    Psycho-pedagogic seminars for teachers, pupils and education officials;
•    Counselling centres for children and parents;
•    Advanced training for educational and mental health professionals;
•    Voluntary work;
•    Publications;
•    Bursary programme;
•    International activities;

Target groups of QPEA are: school workers, health workers and members of other professions related to the care of the child; children with special needs, traumatized children, children with psychosocial disorders, children at risk and their parents; youth and young volunteers; groups of the civil society which can contribute to the well-being of children and protection of children's rights (NGOs, volunteers);

The activities of QPEA were generously supported by international aid agencies and governmental institutions (USAID, ADA, GTZ, Irish Aid, SIDA, Government of the Principality of Andorra, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, OSCE, U.S. Embassy in Kosovo); international NGOs and foundations (SOLON Foundation, SOROS Foundation, OMEGA Austria, CARE International, Kerk in Actie, War Trauma Foundation, Wings of Hope Netherlands, ADPM Belgium, ITF Slovenia, ASVI Italy, TWI USA).
